Wine Description:
The “Rhône Rangers” are an elite group of California winemakers, centered around Paso Robles, whose holy grail is the dark, rich, black fruit magic of the best Rhône wines. Don Brady, elected 2006 Paso Robles Winemaker of the Year by his peers, has combined the keystone Rhône grapes of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault to conjure his Cuvée de Robles 2006, exclusively for WSJwine. After 14 months in oak, with fresh cherry and cranberry aromas and rich, silky tannins, this is perfect wine to complement food and honor company. Which is why Don’s wines were on the table at the White House dinner when the company was Queen Elizabeth II.

How to Choose a Good Wine

The next time you are in a liquor store trying to find a great wine for dinner follow these rules and you will find the perfect wine!

1.  Consider your audience

You know your friends better than anyone so pick wines that are similar to their favorites you see them drink on a regular basis.  For example, if your best friend usually drinks Pinot Noir, ask for a recommendation on a great new Pinot Noir from a different region of the world.  The taste profile will be similar but the experience of tasting a new wine can make your dinner.

2.  What food are you serving your guests?

High acid wines should be paired with dishes that contain some fat content.  White wine with fish and red wine with meat is a good rule to follow but there are several types of fish that work well with white wines.  For example, tuna and mahi-mahi are very good when paired with cabernets and other reds.

Follow these two simple rules and you will find the perfect wine for your guests!
